Athena & Roman Lion Gold Coin Pendant : Beautiful mint state condition. Front side is the ancient Roman Goddess Athena. Reverse shows a lion in full hunt. Pendant consist of a 24K gold layered replica coin Drachm dating approximately 300BC (about the size of a nickel, but thicker) surrounded by a lovely bezel with high relief. Reverse shows “Pallas” the goddess Athena - daughter of Zeus. Helmeted Pallas is one of the names the goddess Athena was called. This was the name of a giant slain by her. Athena was also known as Hygeia or Hippia. When she appears with wings she is Nike…or Victory.
